Afrikaap Radio is proud to partner with the Progressive Principals’ Association (PPA) as we celebrate education, community, and youth empowerment at the upcoming PPA Interschool Sport Festival.

For more than a decade, the PPA has been at the forefront of advocating for quality education and equal opportunities across the Western Cape, supporting over 200 member schools. Their work has transformed the lives of learners by creating spaces where schools can collaborate, share resources, and collectively overcome challenges.

The Sports Festival also carries special meaning as the PPA honours the memory of Mr. Matthew Blaauw, a dedicated Executive Member who sadly passed away in January 2023. Mr. Blaauw was a passionate advocate for the role of sport in shaping young lives and played a key driving role in promoting physical activity, teamwork, and holistic development among learners. To celebrate his lasting legacy, the PPA warmly invites Mr. Blaauw’s family to attend the Sports Festival every year, ensuring that his vision and dedication to learners’ growth continue to inspire future generations.

This year’s event promises to be a vibrant celebration of talent, teamwork, and community spirit. Learners from across the region will come together to compete, connect, and showcase their skills — reflecting the PPA’s commitment to holistic development and the power of education.

The Interschool Sports Festival takes place on the 30th of August 2025, from 9:00 to 14:30 at Fairbairn College in Goodwood, and features learners from 13 schools across the Western Cape competing in soccer, netball and rugby.

Afrikaap Radio will be broadcasting live from the sports day, capturing the energy on the ground and sharing stories from learners, educators, and community leaders with listeners across Cape Town and beyond.

“At Afrikaap Radio, we believe in the power of initiatives that uplift, inspire, and unite communities. Partnering with the Progressive Principals’ Association for their Interschool Sport Festival is a natural fit for us because it celebrates young talent, educational excellence, and the strength of collaboration. Through this outside broadcast, we’re proud to amplify the voices of learners, educators, and families who are shaping a brighter future for the Western Cape.”
