AKR Media is proud to welcome five talented third-year students from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) to our media and marketing department. All completing their Work Integrated Learning (WIL) placements with us, these young communicators bring fresh energy, diverse backgrounds, and a shared passion for the media industry.
Ahlume Kalawe was born in Paarl’s Mbekweni but grew up in Mdantsane, East London — one of the Eastern Cape’s most storied townships. Now in her third year of Public Relations and Communications at CPUT, Ahlume brings with her the richness of two distinct South African communities and a grounded perspective that will serve her well in the industry.
Motseki Petsane hails from Soweto and describes himself as deeply passionate about music, poetry, gaming, and digital media. As a third-year PR student with a growing interest in both the technical and creative sides of media, Motseki is exactly the kind of multi-hyphenate the industry needs more of.
Lathitha Hololo joined AKR through the WIL internship programme and arrived with a clear sense of purpose. A Public Relations and Communications student, Lathitha is driven by a love of communication, creativity, and storytelling, and is committed to growing professionally while contributing meaningfully to the team.
Siyasanga Kwinana grew up in Kleinmond after relocating from Mqanduli in the Eastern Cape — a journey that mirrors the movement of many young South Africans building their futures in the city. A third-year PR student, Siyasanga is looking to gain hands-on experience in communication, marketing, and project management. With an eye on a future in Parliament, she is particularly interested in developing her skills in public engagement and leadership.
Anathi Tsholoba rounds out the cohort with personality and warmth. Originally from Ezibeleni in Komani (Queenstown), Anathi’s second name — Timhaka — is a Mozambican name meaning matters, a detail that speaks to the layered identity she carries into her work. A third-year PR and Communications student, Anathi is eager to put her theoretical knowledge into practice and bring her whole self to everything she does.
Together, these five represent something important: the next generation of South African media professionals, trained in the classroom and now learning what it really means to tell stories, build brands, and connect communities. We’re glad they’re here.
Welcome to the AKR family!
